WORK WITH A PARTNER WHO
ADAPTS TO YOUR NEEDS
Depending on your project requirements, the SEAM team works with you to determine the most effective way to capture your data. We’re able to process and format that dataset in any way that helps you achieve your goals.
Terrestrial 3D laser scanning
Terrestrial 3D laser scanning uses a stationary scanner to capture 3D data of objects or environments by emitting lasers. It creates an accurate “point cloud” of measurements, which are then processed into detailed models or visualisations.
Precise
Scans to the millimetre, when complete accuracy is critical.
Long-range
Allows data capture of large sites and complex structures.
Terrestrial laser scanning is faster and more precise than traditional methods, like GPS or total stations – especially for large or complex projects. It’s also more accurate than photogrammetry, especially for fine details or tricky lighting.
While handheld scanners work better for small objects, terrestrial laser scanning is ideal for large, outdoor spaces. Choose LiDAR for broad aerial surveys, but terrestrial scanning for detailed ground-level data capture.
Simultaneous localisation and mapping (SLAM)
SLAM uses a drone or a handheld device to create a map of its surroundings, while also self-orientating within that map. Using cameras, LiDAR or radar, it constantly updates both the map and its position as it moves.
Fast
Scans quickly when a fast turnaround is essential for success.
Flexible
Allows data capture at inaccessible or
hazardous sites.
SLAM is ideal where GPS signals are weak or unavailable – like inside buildings, tunnels or underground mines. It’s also ideal when maps are missing, outdated or need real-time updates. Instead of mapping manually, SLAM automates the process, making it the faster technology for environments that are tough to work in.
Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)
A UAV (or drone) can help capture high-resolution aerial data – such as images, videos and 3D models – of large areas. Equipped with various sensors, UAVs can quickly and accurately gather data over terrain that might be difficult or time-consuming to access on foot.
Safe
Minimises the need for personnel to operate in high-risk locations.
Flexible
Allows data capture at inaccessible or
hazardous sites.
UAVs can cover ground faster than traditional surveying and provide high-resolution aerial views that ground methods can’t match. They’re also cheaper and more flexible than helicopters or other aircraft. Compared to satellite imagery, UAV flyovers give sharper, real-time data that’s perfect for detailed projects.
CHOOSE CUTTING-EDGE
LASER SCANNING TECHNOLOGY
The SEAM philosophy is to adopt cutting-edge technology that’s both reliable and beneficial for our clients. We also deploy laser scanning specialists to oversee our qualified surveyors in the field. There are no “button-pushers” at SEAM.
With people and equipment ready to go across Australia, nobody can mobilise scanning and surveying resources as quickly as we can.
Leica RCT360
Our fast and precise Leica RCT360 3D reality capture solution collects measurement data at a rate of up to 2 million points per second, down to 2-millimetre accuracy.
GeoSLAM
Our self-positioning GeoSLAM handheld laser scanner gathers data from LiDAR sensors and uses advanced algorithms to create continuous digital maps – without survey marks or GPS
Elios 3
Our collision-tolerant Elios drone performs laser scans in the most challenging locations. Fitted with SLAM technology, it can collect data at sites that were once inaccessible or too hazardous.
WORK WITH THE EXPERTS IN LASER SCANNING
Without a reliable laser scanning partner, you could be making decisions about your assets based on information that isn’t fit for purpose. Avoid re-scans due to errors and inexperienced operators, and get it done right the first time.
With a foundation of highly accurate data, we can ensure your successful design, planning, engineering, maintenance, management and analysis.
